10 Day Central and Northern Mongolia Tour(Part Four)

Day 8
We were on the road for only two hours when the jeep broke down again. This time round, it was a burst tyre. Changing the tyre was a piece of cake for our capable driver and we were soon on our way. Halfway through, Tumaa bought a bottle of wild strawberries from one of the local kids and treated us to the strawberries. Although these strawberries are tiny, they tasted sweeter than the normal ones. We had barely finished the strawberries when the jeep broke down once again. We made light of the situation by settling down by the roadside and enjoyed a bit of a sun tan.
Upon reaching our ger camp, we immediately declared that it was definitely worth a day’s ride just to get to this place. The ger camp was by a river, with only our host family in sight, and nothing else within the vicinity. With beautiful surroundings, perfectly done pasta as dinner (no mutton for the first time!), we couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our second last night on the tour.
Within minutes of our arrival, it started to rain. However, before the rain had stopped, the sun was already out. Out came our cameras, all ready for the rainbow that will appear. And boy, what a sight that was. We saw not one, but two big and beautiful rainbow. And after the rainbows disappeared, we saw the loveliest sunset yet on the trip. *第九天/Day 9
The day didn’t start well. We were not on the road for long when the tyre burst again. Apparently, the tyre decided that it was time to show its tiredness, for the same tyre bursted twice more. In order not to add pressure to our poor driver, we took out all the cooking wares and started cooking lunch right in the middle of the road. It is definitely a first for me, pinicking by the roadside in the middle of nowhere.
It took some time, but we finally made it to the last ger stop for this tour. Right beside the ger camp, is the last tourist sight on our itinerary, i.e. Amarbayasgalant Khiid. This temple looked pretty much similar to the temple that we saw earlier, the Erdene Zuu Temple. The only thing was, although this temple did not occupy as much land as Erdene Zuu, it had more halls. At first we were just wandering around the temple by ourselves, but then one of the young monks volunteered to show us around. In the end, we got a free tour, gaining access to a few of the halls which were actually locked. *第十天/Day 10
Reluctantly, we packed our bags for the last time on this journey. Just then, we discovered how little pictures we took as a group, so we took the opportunity to take a few pictures before we set off. Maybe it's because it knew that it can “knock off” after today, the jeep did not give us any problems at all for the whole trip. Thus, we ended our 10 day trip without any more incidents, bidding farewell to the blues skies and green mountains. ~wei
