Austria(Part 3)

Vienna
As the capital of Austria, Vienna (or Wien as the locals call it) is naturally the biggest and most populated city. And this of course means that there are tons of things for one to see or do here. You can take a cruise down the beautiful Danube, or you can spend a day admiring the many old buildings or wandering in the streets to experience the vibrant city. If you are an arts lover, then you are definitely in seventh heaven. There are loads of museums and performances that one can check out. Of course, these performances do not come cheap. But if you are lucky, you can get a standing room ticket at a low cost. I am not much of an arts lover and also did not manage to secure a cheap ticket, and hence missed out on the performances.
One of the biggest attractions in Vienna is that of the 1400-roomed Schloss Schonbrunn, or the Summer Palace. Having already seen so many palaces and with the ticket for this particular palace way to high for my liking, I did not bother entering the palace. But what I did was to stroll around the huge grounds of the palace together.
While at Oktoberfest a week earlier, I got to know a few Austrians and upon arriving in Vienna, I contacted them to meet up with them. One of the first few places that they brought me to was this mini rock concert at a little known pub way out of the city.
The next day, I was shown a few sights of Vienna, including taking a walk along the Danube, this huge church and the Prater amusement park.

Eh pinnochio!!

The gothic buildings are amazing, especially at night with the lights on them.

I love travelling around with locals because they bring you to places with local flavour and things you would not see otherwise!!

Oh Vienna is lovely!
